What dryer vent cleaning costs in Phoenix

In the Phoenix metro we charge $129 for a standard first-floor wall exit and $179 where the dryer vents through the roof or from a second floor. Those are the prices, not starting points. This guide explains what actually changes the number, why phone quotes so often come in lower than the final bill, and how to tell which one your house needs before anyone drives out.

The short answer

  • A standard first-floor wall exit is $129. That is the price, not a starting point.
  • A roof or second-floor exit is $179, because it needs roof access and the run is longer.
  • The single biggest cost factor is where your dryer vents, not how dirty it is.
  • If a quote sounds unusually low, ask what happens if the vent exits through the roof. That is where the number usually moves.
  • Bundling with duct cleaning costs $499 instead of $449 plus $129 separately.

The price, before the explanation

Most pages about what something costs make you scroll past six paragraphs to reach a range so wide it tells you nothing. Here are the actual numbers.

What you havePrice
Standard first-floor wall exit, up to 25 feet$129
Roof exit or second-floor laundry$179
Three or more units at one property$89 per unit
Camera inspection and airflow test only$89

Those are published prices, and they are what you pay for the work described. If the job turns out smaller than you told us, you pay the smaller price. If it turns out bigger, you hear the corrected number before anything starts.

The one thing that actually decides your price

It is not how dirty the vent is. It is where your dryer vents to.

A first-floor laundry room on an exterior wall usually has a short run to a vent hood a few feet away. That is the $129 job, and it covers most single-story homes in the older parts of the Valley.

An upstairs laundry room has to send the exhaust somewhere, and in almost all Phoenix-area two-story construction that means up through the attic and out a cap on the roof. That is the $179 job. The difference covers working at height on a tile roof and a run that is typically several times longer.

So before you call anyone, walk to your laundry room and look. Is it upstairs or downstairs? That single answer moves the price more than anything else about your house.

Why this matters more in Phoenix than in most places

Valley construction from roughly the 1990s onward overwhelmingly puts the laundry upstairs in two-story homes. Across Ahwatukee, Desert Ridge, most of Chandler and Gilbert, and the newer parts of Peoria and Surprise, the roof exit is the default rather than the exception.

That is why a phone quote here goes wrong so often. A company quotes a national-sounding low number, the technician arrives, finds a roof exit, and the price changes on your driveway. The number was never wrong exactly. It was answering a different question than the one you asked.

What does not change the price

Being clear about this is as useful as the price itself.

  • How clogged it is. A vent that is mildly restricted and one that is genuinely packed cost the same. Severity changes how long we are there, not what you pay.
  • Which city you are in. The price is identical across the metro. We batch jobs by area, so distance is our scheduling problem.
  • Whether it is a rental or your own home. A single rental house prices the same as any other house. Volume pricing starts at three or more units at one property.
  • How long it has been. There is no surcharge for neglect. If it has been twelve years, it is still the same price.

The things that genuinely can add to it

Two, and both need your approval by text before they happen.

A bird nest in the termination. Common on desert-edge properties and on roof caps that have lost their flap. Removal plus a guard is $49. If there are eggs or live chicks, we stop and reschedule rather than clear it.

A failed transition hose. The flexible hose between the dryer and the wall. If yours is the foil or plastic type that has collapsed or torn, replacing it with semi-rigid metal is $29. We will show you the old one.

Technicians earn no commission on either of these. Nobody at your house has a financial reason to find a problem.

How this compares to duct cleaning

These get confused constantly, and they are different jobs at different prices.

Dryer vent cleaning is a single exhaust run from your dryer to the outside. Air duct cleaning is your entire HVAC supply and return system, which is a much bigger job: $449 for one system with up to 12 supply vents.

For context on that number, the EPA’s consumer guide on duct cleaning puts typical costs between $450 and $1,000 per heating and cooling system, depending on size, accessibility and contamination. Treat that as a long-standing benchmark rather than this week’s market rate, but it is the most neutral figure available and it is not published by anyone trying to sell you a cleaning.

If you want both done, booking them together is $499 rather than paying for each separately.

One honest caveat worth more than any price: the two services do not carry the same justification. Lint accumulation in a dryer vent is a fire risk and worth clearing on its own merits. Air duct cleaning is not routine maintenance, and the EPA does not recommend doing it on a schedule. If someone tries to sell you both as a package for the same reason, that is a sales tactic rather than a technical argument.

How to check whether you need it at all

You do not need a technician to tell you this. Three signs, all of which you can check yourself:

  1. Clothes take more than one cycle to dry. The most reliable early indicator.
  2. The laundry room gets hot while the dryer runs. Heat that should be leaving through the vent is staying in the room.
  3. The dryer shuts off before the load is finished. Many modern dryers have a thermal cutoff that trips when exhaust cannot escape.

If none of those are true and the dryer has been in service a year or two, you can probably wait. We would rather tell you that than take a booking for work that will not change anything.

What you should ask anyone before booking

Whether you call us or somebody else, these four questions separate a real price from a number designed to get a van to your house.

  • What is your price if the vent exits through the roof? The most important question in this entire guide.
  • Is that price for the whole run, or just the section you can reach from inside?
  • What do you charge if you find a bird nest?
  • Do your technicians earn commission on anything they find?

An honest company can answer all four on the phone in under a minute. If the answer to any of them is that they need to see it first, you are not being given a price. You are being given an appointment.

Common questions

How much is dryer vent cleaning in Phoenix?
$129 for a standard first-floor wall exit up to 25 feet, and $179 where the dryer vents through the roof or from a second floor. Those are published prices and they are what you pay for the work described.
Why is a roof vent more expensive?
Two reasons, and neither is that we charge more because we can. A roof exit means working at height on a tile roof, which takes longer and needs different equipment. The run is also usually longer, because it travels from the laundry room up through the attic to the roof cap. More run, more time.
Someone quoted me much less over the phone. Why?
Usually because they quoted a first-floor price for a house that vents through the roof, and the number changes once a technician is standing in your laundry room. Ask any company what happens if the vent exits at the roof. If they cannot answer that on the phone, you do not have a real quote.
Does it cost more if my vent is really clogged?
No. The price is the same whether the vent is mildly restricted or genuinely packed. How dirty it is changes how long it takes us, not what you pay.
What if you find a bird nest?
Nest removal plus a guard is $49 added to the cleaning, and nothing is added without your approval by text first. If we find eggs or live chicks we stop, leave the nest alone, and reschedule with you.
Is there a cheaper price for apartments or rentals?
Yes, for volume. Three or more units at the same property is $89 per unit. A single rental house is priced the same as any other house.
How often does this actually need doing?
It depends on the run and the household, not on a calendar. A short wall exit serving two people is a different situation from a long roof run serving a family of five. The honest signals are clothes taking two cycles to dry, the laundry room getting hot while the dryer runs, or the dryer shutting off mid-load.
Do you charge a trip fee anywhere in the metro?
No. The price is identical in every city we serve. We batch jobs by area so distance is our scheduling problem rather than a line on your invoice.
